Funding Opportunity: Macmillan Cancer Support Research Grants Scheme

Macmillan Cancer Support Research Grants Scheme is a new open-competition funding framework for Macmillan’s grant-funded research. Macmillan will be launching the 2017 call at the end of March (projected date: 27th). We will be seeking outline applications in the first instance which will undergo internal triage, with successful applicants being invited to submit a full application (summary of our review processes here).

The scope of the call is currently being finalised but it is likely to be relatively tightly focused on areas of strategic importance for Macmillan. If you’d like to be added to our mailing list so that you will be notified with details on scope, eligibility criteria and timelines when the call launches, please send an email with your details to evidence@macmillan.org.uk using the subject ‘Macmillan Research Grants Scheme: 2017 Call’.

New PhD Funding Opportunity - December 2016

Applications are now invited for three fully-funded research studentships to be located in the Centre for Evidence and Social Innovation.

The second of the studentships will involve working with CHaRMS:

The effects of engagement with early intervention programmes on parent and child outcomes

This project will be based in the Colin Neighbourhood Partnership. It will focus on analysing the effects of various existing early intervention projects on outcomes for parents and children in the community. It will seek to track outcomes for children and parents in the community and to assess whether these are associated with their participation in particular early intervention programmes run in the community. Within this, a particular interest is in relation to exploring the combined effects of children and parents engaging in two or more such programmes. It will involve secondary analysis of data collected by the Partnership as well as linking this with wider social, education and health records. These linkages will be undertaken in association with the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI).

Further information on the Colin Neighbourhood Partnership can be found here: http://www.newcolin.com

Alongside the general criteria listed above, the successful candidate will also be expected to have:

  • Previous experience in undertaking quantitative research; and
  • Good knowledge and expertise in relation to handling large datasets and undertaking multivariate statistical analysis.

For further information on this project please contact: Dr Andrew Percy

Deadline for applications is December 16th.
