About

The overall aim of CHaRMS is to generate and disseminate new knowledge, build research capacity, and engage external partners in the area of health but also other aspects of human wellbeing.

The Centre's research agenda covers many topics that focus on how to improve lives in Northern Ireland and internationally. In high income countries the focus of the Centre is on policy-relevant areas such as the impact of welfare reform, optimal design and management of the health sector, incentivising ‘positive’ health behaviours, causal determinants and effects of the different components of wellbeing, and coping with demographic change.

In developing countries the Centre’s activities will include research into topics such as delivering healthcare services, the economic return on health investments, and optimal policies in the field of maternal and child health.

The Centre aims to adopt methodological best practice, and to develop new methodological approaches to policy-relevant questions, particularly in the field of causal inference, but also including qualitative and experimental-based work.
As well as engaging with our external partners, we also aim to attract grant funding, postgraduate students, and produce internationally-recognised publications.

We welcome contact from researchers, prospective graduate students, and stakeholders. Get in touch!

CHaRMS provides a point of contact for those interested in getting input from Queen's Management School in our areas of expertise from elsewhere in the University, as well as from policy agencies and from the community sector. Our key value added contribution is providing insights from social, behavioural, and management science into policy-relevant questions in health and wellbeing.
